High Schoolers try Paper Engineering at Colorado Academy, Denver

Last week I taught a three-day paper engineering workshop for a group of 14 high schoolers at Colorado Academy, located in Lakewood, Colorado, on the outskirts of Denver. The session was challenging for many, but the students met the challenge on the last day of the workshop when they worked to combine several pop-up forms, creating their own complex scenes using their drawing and collage skills. Thanks to Richard Kelly for the invitation to meet with this great group of kids.

I also had the chance to see Denver’s botanical gardens with an installation of Henry Moore sculptures, the Denver Art Museum and the fabulous Kirkland Museum with its collection of 20th century furniture, paintings, and furnishings. After shopping at Denver’s EVOO Marketplace (which sells olive oil and balsamic vinegar exclusively) and Savory Spice store, I packed my bags full of flavorsome products to savor once I’m home.
